We’re Looking for Guest Posters!

Hello there, fellow pit bull lovers & advocates! We’re looking for guest posters on our blog. You don’t have to be an experienced blogger, or even someone who has had any blogging experience at all. We’re just looking for someone who’s passionate about pit bulls and wants to help spread awareness about BSL.

Sound like something you’d like to do? Send us an e-mail at pits4peace@gmail.com.

Happy 4th Of July!

Pits4PEACE is celebrating the Fourth of July today! We’re a Northern California based advocacy organization, but we’d love to expand over the United States. So we’re celebrating the Fourth of July by celebrating 4 pit bull independence days.

What’s that, you say? Well, a number of states across the United States have rejected BSL.

States Preventing BSL Laws

  • Colorado
  • Florida
  • Illinois
  • Maine
  • Minnesota
  • New Jersey
  • New York
  • Oklahoma
  • Pennsylvania
  • Texas
  • Virginia
  • Massachusetts
  • Nevada
  • Connecticut
  • Rhode Island
  • California prohibits most BSL laws, but allows BSL spay/neuter.

South Dakota is also considering ending BSL.

And Now, For Some Pit Bulls Celebrating American Independence… And Theirs!

Pits4PEACE Needs Your Help!

cute-and-funny-pitbull-puppy-3

After nearly a year of running our online websites and programs, Pits4PEACE needs your help! In honor of Pit Bull Awareness Day, which is on October 27th (also our mascot, Bindi’s, birthday), we want to organize a fundraiser. All money raised will go towards pit bull rescue and help support our cause. For $100, we can save a pit bull or a pit bull mix… So let’s do it!

Happy Presidents’ Day!

Bo and Sunny wishing you a Happy Presidents’ Day from the White House!

Pit bulls have served as loyal war heroes and brave army dogs in the United States for years. They have been honored with medals, flags, and even some purple hearts.

Presidents Who Love Pit Bulls

Moby-and-Pearl1-223x300

  • Barack Obama has previously stated that he, too, is a supporter of pit bulls
  • President Theodore Roosevelt owned a pit bull
  • President Woodrow Wilson owned a pit bull

During World Wars I and II, the pit bull stood next to the eagle as a symbol of hope and comfort to many people. Unfortunately, because of BSL, the pit bull today is now viewed as a vicious and cruel attack dogs.

American Pit Bull Terriers, Staffordshire Bull Terriers, and American Staffordshire Terriers are among America’s most honored and revered dog breeds, and in fact have served in many wars and fought for their country as hard as any soldier.

Good job pit bulls, and keep up the good work!

Happy Valentine’s Day From the Pit Bulls

valentinesdaydog_2012For the pit bulls of the world, Valentine’s Day is the best day of the year. It’s a day dedicated to hugs, kisses, and MORE hugs and kisses! What could possibly be better than that?

Nothing, really! (Well, except for the hugs and kisses going around to people OTHER than the pit bull in question. What’s all this?)

To wish you all a Happy Valentine’s Day, we’ve included links to some amazing BSL stories and hopeful news.

Aurora, Colorado, plans on lifting pit bull ban252150550_640

Eight years ago, Aurora, a city in Colorado, instated a pit bull ban, tearing many dogs away from their families, possibly forever. The city saw an astounding 35 dog bites per year, and many claimed pit bulls were behind it. However, city officials are considering lifting the ban–possibly uniting pit bulls back with their families after eight long years.

Two Midwest Towns Lift Pit Bull Bans

Two Midwest towns, Canton, Michigan, and Bonner Springs, Kansas, have successfully lifted pit bull bans.  Debi Baker lobbied for the rescinding of BSL laws in Bonner Springs after her pit bull was taken away from her. Jessica and Marin Kowalewski also fought for their pit bull mix, Loki, against Canton’s BSL laws. Both families prevailed, and now pit bulls are reunited with their families.
